You will be brought by boat to the sanctuary where these magnificent creatures come each year, from January through March travelling from the cold Northern Atlantic waters to mate and give birth. An exhibition you´ll never forget.
The San Lorenzo Bay and the mouth of the Caño Hondo River are reached by launch where the trip continues upriver, through dense mangroves. You will visit caves where the native Tainos left their mark in the form of hieroglyphs and petroglyphs, a moving reminder of ancient times. Navigating through the park, past bird island. and between the Mogotes (karstic region composed of lime stone islets) you will reach the mouth of the underground River del Naranjito

A really pretty trek on foot or on horse back. Incredible hill-crest panoramas. Taking the small tracks running though the tropical forest you will come across El Limon Waterfall, sparkling away amid the lush vegetation. A refreshing dip is most welcome ! And on the way back, it´s lunch at Santi´s, a small comedor (restaurant) serving tasty local dishes and a founding member of the local association for the development of fair and sustainable tourism.

ATV or Jeep Safari. The expedition starts off by heading into the hills and taking in the spectacular clear panorama of one of Natures treasures. You´ll follow trails winding through the lush vegetation and across rivers. Visit one of the last remaining traditional rubber factories and then stop off at a family owned plantation for coffee and cocoa tasting as well as other tropical fruits and vegetables.
Then it´s on to Moron beach if you’re on a quad or Rincon beach (via Samana) if you’re travelling by jeep.
